Rachel Carballo, MPH

Rachel Carballo is a clinical intern at Life Change Therapy Now and a master’s-level student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at the University of the Cumberlands, where she is on track to graduate in May 2026. She is completing her clinical work under supervision. Rachel holds a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Maternal and Child Health from Syracuse University and SUNY Upstate Medical University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Public Health from SUNY Fredonia. She brings over a decade of experience in health and human services, including direct clinical work in addiction counseling, maternal-child health, and community wellness. Since 2022, Rachel has worked as an addiction counselor in outpatient treatment settings, providing individual, group, family, and couples therapy. Her work has included leading psychoeducational groups, integrating mindfulness and yoga-based practices, and developing community-based wellness initiatives such as smoking cessation programs and Narcan training. Rachel’s clinical approach is person-centered and evidence-based, blending compassion with structure to help clients build insight, coping skills, and resilience. Her background in public health informs a holistic view of mental wellness and a strong awareness of the social, cultural, and systemic factors that influence wellbeing. She works with individuals, couples, and families navigating concerns such as addiction, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and relational conflict. Clients often appreciate Rachel’s calm, non-judgmental presence and her ability to create a safe, collaborative space where meaningful healing and growth can occur. In addition to her clinical work, Rachel has experience in childbirth education, community leadership, program development, and volunteer coordination. She is certified as an Alcohol and Drug Trainee in Maryland and brings strong organization, communication skills, and cultural humility to her work with clients.

Abigail (Abby) Donnelly

Abby Donnelly is a therapist intern and Clinical Mental Health Counseling graduate student at St. Bonaventure University and will be graduating in May 2026. She has been working in the mental health field since 2020, supporting individuals across a range of settings including community-based programs and private practice. As a therapist intern, Abby has experience providing individual therapy to clients navigating anxiety, life transitions, depression, self-esteem concerns, and trauma-related challenges. Abby’s approach is relational, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that therapy should feel like a safe and affirming space to explore, grow, and reconnect with one’s sense of purpose. She integrates a variety of evidence-based modalities to meet each client’s unique needs, with a clinical style influenced by narrative therapy, parts work, somatic awareness, and solution-focused practices. Therapy with Abby often includes creative interventions that support clients in reconnecting with themselves and finding new ways to engage with their stories. She is trained in Trauma-Informed Care and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) through University Health and brings a compassionate, present-centered approach to her work. Abby is especially passionate about helping clients through times of transition, whether that’s entering adulthood, adjusting to life changes, or navigating stress in a fast-paced, digital world.

Alaya Powell-Davis

Alaya is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Life Change Therapy Now with a trauma-informed focus. She is currently completing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in trauma and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in forensic psychology. Prior to transitioning into a clinical role, Alaya worked extensively in administrative and client-care positions within mental health settings. This experience provided her with a strong understanding of how systems, access to care, and advocacy shape the therapeutic experience. This background continues to inform her work as a counselor, allowing her to approach clients with both clinical insight and a deep awareness of the barriers individuals may face when seeking support. Alaya’s clinical interests include trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and supporting individuals and families navigating complex or overwhelming experiences. She is committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and compassionate therapeutic space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to move at their own pace. Alaya believes therapy should honor each client’s unique story while fostering resilience, insight, and meaningful healing. Outside of the counseling space, Alaya values balance and self-care and enjoys reading, hiking, cooking, and creative pursuits. She is passionate about continued learning and is grateful for the opportunity to grow as a clinician while supporting clients on their healing journeys.
